The 2023 Residuals Annual Report for the Ajinomoto Distribution of Class A Residuals program
was reviewed by WQROS staff on July 18, 2024. The report was received on February 9, 2024.
A signed certification form was submitted and indicated compliance. The report was compiled
and submitted by Soil Plus.
In 2023, Ajinomoto processed and land applied approximately 310.46 dry tons of residual
biosolids from the sources listed in Attachment A of the permit. The residual biosolids were land
applied to agricultural fields in Edgecombe and Nash counties. Approximately 1,058.34 dry tons
of residual biosolids sourced from Ajinomoto’s Wastewater Treatment System were taken to a
private composting facility for further processing in 2023. Attachment A of the permit indicates
the facility has a limit of 1,800 Maximum Dry Tons Per Year.
Metals and Nutrients analyses were completed as required with no reported exceedances of
limits.
TCLP analyses were conducted as required by the permit.

Since none of the residual biosolids from the Ajinomoto Wastewater Treatment System were
land applied, no Pathogen and Vector Attraction reduction was required by the permit.
The report was received on time and in the proper format. At the time of the report review the
facility appeared compliant with the annual report requirement.
