Subject: NPDES Permit Modification
Permit Number NCO085481
Penderlea School WWTP
Pander County
Dear Mr. Smith:
Division personnel have reviewed and approved your request for modification of the subject
permit. This permit modification is issued pursuant to the requirements of North Carolina General
Statute 143-215.1 and the Memorandum of Agreement between North Carolina and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency dated May 9, 1994 (or as subsequently amended).
In a letter dated March 19, 2007, you state that Penderlea School uses UV disinfection
exclusively, and chlorine is not, and has never been used to treat its effluent. Therefore, this permit
modification authorizes the removal of the Total Residual Chlorine monitoring requirement from the
above -referenced permit. Please insert the modified permit page into the permit and discard the old
page.
Please note that this permit is not transferable. This permit does not affect the legal
requirements to obtain other permits which may be required by the Division of Water Quality or permits
required by the Division of Land Resources, Coastal Area Management Act, or any other Federal or
Local governmental permits which may be required.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact
Maureen Crawford of my staff at (919) 733-5083, extension 538.
Sincerely,
