Railroad Street Post Office Box 185 (252) 827-4823 town of ma cclesfieIdnc@gmaiLcom Jason Taylor, Mayor Pro Tem Michael Speight, Mayor Joyce Braxton, Commissioner Jennifer Stanley, Town Administrator Jean Wooten-Jiles, Commissioner Gracie Etheridge, Town Clerk Paula Lewis, Commissioner To Whom It May Concern, This letter is regarding an SSO I reported on Sunday May 26, 2024, incident #202400988. On Saturday May 25, 2024, about 1700 hours on call personal was notified of a high level at our lift station on N Railroad St. Initially the system was found to be tripped out. Maintenance reset the station and it went back to pumping with no obvious issue of why the station tripped out. When the on -call personnel left they noticed a wet spot beside the road approximately .2 miles from the lift station where NCDOT had just replaced a crossline. After further investigation it was discovered that the 4in force main had been broken during the replacement. On call personnel immediately shut off the lift station to keep any more sewage from being pumped to that point. At that point additional help was called in to assess the situation. Employees immediately established a game plan and started gathering material and tapping into recourses to do the repair. Since we are a small system and have an extremely small number of services on this lift station the decision was made to leave the lift station off and start work the next morning. Town employees began work at 0730 May 26t" and completed the repair at 1700 hours on the same day. Sincerely, Benjy Lassiter Public Works Director
