Hi all,
I apologize for any confusion here — I misunderstood what Olivia was saying. Our GC4275 for NW57 states that
"For structures less than 72" in diameter/width, and topographic constraints indicate culvert slopes of greater
than 2.5% culvert burial is not required, provided that all alternative options for flattening the slope have been
investigated and aquatic life movement/connectivity has been provided when possible (e.g., rock ladders,
cross -vanes, sills, baffles etc.). Notification, including supporting documentation to include a location map of
the culvert, culvert profile drawings, and slope calculations, shall be provided to DWR 30 calendar days prior
to the installation of the culvert."
An updated site plan will need to be provided showing that the culvert is not buried for DWR to continue
processing this application.
I will treat this as an additional request for information. Provide the updated plan within 30 days. Please let me
know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Olivia,
Can you confirm that you're providing written authorization the applicant does not need to bury the culvert due to
concerns of headcutting?
Thanks!

Good afternoon,
noticed the slope is 7.5%. We do not recommend burying culverts if slopes of culverts are greater than
2% due to concerns of headcutting. We also recommend using baffles (e.g., flexi baffles) to assist with
some aquatic life passage.
Thankyou,

Good afternoon Ms. Wooten,
In response to your request for an updated site plan for the project, please find attached revised drawings. We
have made corrections to the legend (existing culvert was an error) and depicted the location of the stream more
clearly.
Let me know if have any additional questions or comments.
Thanks,

Hi all,
DWR has completed an initial review of the above noted application and requires additional information
to continue our review. Please provide the following information within 30 days of this email. Please
note that the application will be considered "on hold" until receipt of all the requested information.
1. Please provide a clearer site plan map. I'm having a hard determining what is being impacted.
There is also information in the legend that is not provided in the provided site plans in "20240538
Ver 1_Exhibit_C_Duke Sweetwater Plot set 4.4.24_20240408.pdf". I see there is mention of the
existing culvert, yet I do not seethe plans showing the existing culvert. [15A NCAC 02H .0502(b)]
