To whom it may concern,
The City of Reidsville is developing improvements to the existing Jaycee Park at 2010 S. Scales Street in
Reidsville, NC. The city wishes to pursue a variance for the exclusion of the manual transfer switch for the
pump station. This pump station serves only a splash pad facility which includes the splash pad, concession
stand, restrooms, and the equipment for the operation of the splash pad. The facility is enclosed by a fence.
This facility is seasonal and will be in operation a limited number of hours each day. Operating the pump
station without the backup power source will not adversely affect the requirements of 15A NCAC 02T
.0105(n). If the facility loses power, all operation will halt, and the facility will close until power is
reestablished. During a power outage the waste stream will be minimal with some restroom usage from the
departing guests and possible concession cleanup. The pump station has 240 gallons of storage between
the lead pump on elevation to the building sewer invert in elevation and a maximum storage volume of 420
gallons from lead pump on elevation to the wet well rim elevation. The wet well volumes can accommodate
multiple restroom flushes without concerns of an overflow.
