Subject: RE: [External] Notification -Winston Pointe
Good afternoon, Jeff,
Thankyou for the notification and the updated description. I look forward to reviewing the photos of the area when
the repairs and remediation is completed.
Since this project appears to be located within the Town of Clayton local program jurisdiction, I will leave the
follow-up inspection to their team unless they would like to request me to meet on -site as well. I concur that the
erosion control measures should be repaired and improved as needed to prevent further sediment loss from
occurring in addition to removing the accumulated sediment by hand (shovel and bucket) from the stream
buffer/wetland prior to stabilizing the area with a native seed mix.
Please let me know if there is any assistance or guidance that I can provide through this remediation and repair
process.
Kindly,

Bill,
This is an updated description of the Winston Pointe items mentioned in the self -report last week. Many of these
areas have been worked on by the contractor and we will perform an assessment of the cleanup when it is
completed.
NE of basin1 at culvert crossing —there is an area of sediment in the stream buffer/wetland (40'x2-30' and skim
coat - 6" in the deepest location) and pockets of sediment in the stream (.5'-4'x1-6' and skim coat— 3" deep). This
occurred from areas that were being graded washing to the crossing area, at which point the water flow washed
the sediment past the LOD and into the area below. Additional measures will be put in place here and above the
crossing
W of basin 6 —there are pockets/trails of sediment in the stream buffer/wetland (2-40'x3-15' and skim coat - 8" in
the deepest location). The sediment leads to the stream but there are visible signs of sediment in the stream other
than very thin areas along a few bends in the stream.
Repairs will be completed and we have included the Town of Clayton copied on this email. Additional stabilization
will be completed on site as well
Please let me know if you have questions, need photos, or wish to meet on site.

Subject: Notification -Winston Pointe
Bill and Celina,
The purpose of this email is to notify you of sediment that impacted the wetlands and the stream at Winston Pointe
Subdivision in the Town of Clayton witnessed during our NPDES inspections yesterday. The sediment ranges in depth
from a skim coating to 8" deep in pockets and trails ranging in size from 1-50'x1-30'. The sediment discharges were due
to silt fence/outlets being overwhelmed or undermined due to a large rain event. A more detailed email with a
description will be sent soon. Crews were on site yesterday removing sediment using low impact methods (with shovels
and buckets) and have been working towards cleanup and prevention of future problems.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Jeff Taylor
