Hi Bill,
The purpose of this email is to notify you of the following sediment that discharged from the site at Winston Pointe
Subdivision in the Town of Clayton witnessed during our NPDES inspections on Monday that impacted the wetlands.
This occurred below recently graded slopes just south of SSB 5. Basins and diversion ditches have been being installed
as crews worked hard to get diversions in before the recent rain events.
Below SSB# 5, a silt fence outlet was overwhelmed with sediment. The devices did not fail, although sediment buildup
overwashed the stone. Crews have already removed stored sediment from the fence and were waiting for the sediment
in the wetland area to dry in order to remove it. The main area of sediment deposition is approximately 20x30 feet in a
few pockets 2-3 inches deep as well as one foot behind the silt fence approximately 1-2 inches in the area directly
behind the outlet along the silt fence.
Crews will stabilize these slopes soon (we are still within 7 days of disturbance) and repair perimeter measures. They
will recover this sediment using low impact methods with shovels and buckets.
