SUBJECT: 2023 Residuals Annual Report Review
Yanceyville Residuals Land Application Program
Permit No. WQ0028547
Caswell County
Dear Ms. Barnett:
On May 14, 2024, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Williams completed a review
of the 2023 residuals annual report. This review reflected compliance with the subject
permit.
The following item of concern was noted:
Fields CS-82-01, 02, 03 all had a pH < 6.0. No lime applications were reported on
the Annual Land Application Field Summary Form. The pH values should continue
to be monitored as low pH values can negatively impact crop health. Field CS-82-
01 specifically should be monitored as soil pH < 5.0 can cause aluminum toxicity
in plants.
Please refer to the enclosed inspection report for additional comments and observations.
If you have any questions, please contact Cailin Williams at the letterhead address and
phone number, or by email at caitlin.williams(cdeg.nc.gov.
Sincerely,
Docu Signed by,

Inspection Summary:
On May 14, 2024, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Williams completed a review of the 2023 residuals annual report.
This review reflected compliance with the subject permit.
The following item of concern was noted:
• Fields CS-82-01, 02, 03 all had a pH < 6.0. No lime applications were reported on the Annual Land Application Field
Summary Form. The pH values should continue to be monitored as low pH values can negatively impact crop health. Field
CS-82-01 specifically should be monitored as soil pH < 5.0 can cause aluminum toxicity in plants.
Other observations:
• The incorrect cadmium value was used on all field summary forms. Mr. Brent Collins provided corrected copies of the
field summary forms on 5/14/23 and will be submitting an amended annual report.
• Fecal and volatile solids reduction were used to meet pathogen and vector reduction requirements. Sampling was
completed on 9/26/23.
• Nutrient and metals samples were collected on 9/27/23. TCLP samples were collected on 9/26/23.
