Sisters Cove - Phase II Shoreline Stabilization
The shoreline at Sister's Cove is highly eroded from natural wind and with existing boating traffic.
To halt the current state of erosion, a boulder wall is proposed for a length of 1,546.25 linear feet.
All of the work will be done by land utilizing a mini track hoe and a skid steer. There will be
manpower at the shoreline for any needed hand placement of materials. All materials will be
stockpiled on land and moved with a skid steer to the track hoe. It is anticipated that about 100
linear feet per week will be completed. A 1' thick layer of surge rock will be placed at the edge of
the eroded shoreline. The boulder rock will be placed in front of the surge and at the base of the
boulder rock a the shore edge, there will be rip rap. A cap stone will be placed at the top of the
bank to tie the surge rock and boulder wall together.
I have included the following documents along with (3) copies of the permit application.
1. A drawing of the proposed stabilization wall in plan view and a cross section is provided.
2. An overall site plan showing the limits of the shoreline work is also included.
3. Summary of shoreline to be stabilized
The total length of this project is 1,546.25 linear feet.
Thank you,
i

D. Impact Justification and Mitigation
1. Avoidance and Minimization
1 a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing project.
The goal is to stop the current erosion rate of the existing bank. The work will mainly be completed by land with a mini trackhoe and a skid steer.
It is estimated that the work will progress at a rate of 100' per week. All material will be stockpiled on land and moved with a skid steer to he mini track
hoe.
1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques.
Track hoe can place gravel and rock by land with laborers on the bank, hand setting material as needed.
2. Compensatory Mitigation for Impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State
2a. Does the project require Compensatory Mitigation for
impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State?
