Mercury Minimization Plan

The purpose of this Mercury Minimization Plan is to reduce point source dischargers of mercury
in to the Sewerage District’s collection system. The Metropolitan Sewerage District (MSD) has
historically had very low levels of mercury as seen in Long Term Monitoring. In order to
maintain this and further reduce MSD will implement the following actions:
1. Follow rule set forth in 40 CFR Part 441 for Pretreatment Programs – MSD
will Receive, Review, and Retain Dental Compliance reports.
2. MSD will survey possible mercury dischargers in the Industrial Waste Survey
