STREAM DIVERSION AND PUMP AROUND GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL STREAM WORK TO BE PERFORMED "IN THE DRY" OUT OF STREAM FLOW BY
PUMP -AROUND.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL USE A "SILENT PUMP" FOR All PUMP -AROUND WORK ASSOCIATED WITH
THIS PROJECT.
3. IMPERVIOUS DIKES OR COFFER DAMS ARE TO BE USED TO ISOLATE WORK FROM STREAM
FLOW.
4. MAINTENANCE OF STREAM FLOW OPERATIONS SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THE WORK. THIS
INCLUDES PUMPS AND HOSES.
5. GRADED STREAM BANKS SHALL BE STABILIZED, WITH MATTING, PRIOR TO PREDICTED RAIN FALL
EVENTS, UNLESS ALL RAIN EVENT FLOW CAN BE PUMPED AROUND FOR PREDICTED EVENT.
6. PUMPS AND HOSES SHALL BE SUFFICIENT SIZE TO DEWATER THE WORK AREA.

1. CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE A PROPOSED SIZE AND LOCATION OF GEOTEXTILE
DEWATERING SILT BAG FOR APPROVAL BY THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.
2. INSTALL GEOTEXTILE DEWATERING SILT BAG, AS APPROVED.
3. INSTALL BYPASS PUMP AND DEWATERING PUMP AND NECESSARY TEMPORARY FLEXIBLE HOSE.
CONNECT DEWATERING PUMP TO GEOTEXTILE DEWATERING BAG.
4. PLACE UPSTREAM IMPERVIOUS DIKE AND COFFER DAMS TO ISOLATE THE WORK AREA. BEGIN
BYPASS PUMPING FOR STREAM PUMP AROUND OPERATION.
5. PLACE DOWNSTREAM IMPERVIOUS DIKE FOR STREAM PUMP AROUND OPERATION. BEGIN
DEWATERING THE ISOLATED WORK AREA. AREA TO BE DEWATERED SHALL BE EQUAL TO ONE
DAY'S WORK.
6. PERFORM WORK WITHIN STREAM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS.
7. EXCAVATE ANY ACCUMULATED SILT AND DEWATER BEFORE REMOVAL OF IMPERVIOUS DIKES
AND/OR COFFER DAMS. REMOVE IMPERVIOUS DIKES, COFFER DAMS, PUMPS, AND TEMPORARY
FLEXIBLE HOSE, (DOWNSTREAM IMPERVIOUS DIKES COFFER DAM FIRST),
8. PUMP AROUND AREA TO BE STABILIZED WITH MATTING AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY. THE
IMPERVIOUS DIKE LOCATIONS AS SHOWN ON THIS SHEET ONLY SHOW THE UPPER AND LOWER
EXTENT OF WORK FOR EACH STREAM SEGMENT. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
DETERMINING THE LOCATION OF THE IMPERVIOUS DIKE(S) FOR EACH DAY'S WORK
9. REMOVE SILT BAG AND PROPERLY DISPOSE OF CAPTURED SEDIMENT AND SILT BAG. STABILIZE
DISTURBED AREA WITH SEED AND MULCH.
