Dear Mr. Patterson:
The Municipal Unit of the Division of Water Resources has reviewed the New Industrial User Pretreatment Permit
(IUP) submitted by The City of Burlington, South Burlington WWTP (NC0023876) for the following Significant
Industrial User(SIU). The original submission was received by the Division on 01/25/2024. This review is for the
final]UP version submitted on 02/28/2024 in response to the Division's ADI Letter dated 01/30/2024.

0091 1 Mount Vernon Chemicals,LLC dba Apollo Chemical-Burlington
The review indicates that the IUP is not adequate to completely assure control & prevention of a 1,4 Dioxane
containing waste release into the POTW's collection system, proper interim storage protocol at the facility, and
where this effluent will be transported to. The Division requests more information about the procedures for this
specific waste handling for ultimate disposal at an offsite location. Please provide this guidance and the (final)
destination location for treatment/disposal.
This request for more information is consistent with 15A NCAC 02H .0917 (g)(2) and"shall suspend the 30-day
review period."
