Dear Mr. Perlmutter,
The City of Burlington would like to request reduced monitoring of the influent and effluent for the
parameter BOD5. We would also like to request that we maintain the reduced monitoring already in place
for the following parameters: TSS, NH3 and Fecal Coliform.
We believe this request is justified based on performance data over the most recent three years, 2021-
2023. The data requested is included with this letter. We believe that the South Burlington WWTP meets
all the approval criteria listed in the DWQ Guidance Regarding the Reduction of Monitoring Frequency in
NPDES Permits for Exceptionally Performing Facilities. Given the performance of the South Burlington
WWTP, we feel reduced monitoring for these parameters will continue to provide adequate monitoring and
environmental protection.
