When rip rap is used to armor drainage, engineers will label its placement on plans as a "rip rap apron" as shown on the first page of the attached scan. As shown on the second page, 502 Toms Creek Road has a ditch next to it with a 15ft pipe at the end that flows downhill and into a concrete box that slows down the water and then lets it spill out through holes cut near the top of the box as shown on page 3. Page 3 shows that there are rip rap aprons at both ends of the pipe, but it does not quantify how much rip rap is required. If the area is eroding then we can do an inspection and determine if additional rip rap is needed. But, ifthey are requesting additional rip rap for aesthetic purposes then that is not required. Please advise. Also,as a follow up to our conversation about getting your board to approve BUA, I have also attached an example of an ARC's application for impervious area review from another neighborhood who contacted me recently. You could adapt this type of format. (it asks for a lot more data than is needed for stormwater. You just need the existing BUA, proposed BUA and the max allowed BUA to show that you are within the total allowed.) If you have additional questions, please let me know.
