Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary) On March 7th, 2024, Ron Boone, of the Winston-Salem Regional Office of the NC Division of Water Resources, conducted a compliance evaluation inspection of your single family wastewater treatment system. Thank you for assisting Mr. Boone in completing the inspection. The inspection results are summarized below: The outfall was inspected and Mr. Boone noted no concerns. It was discharging at the time of the inspection and the water looked clean and clear with no solids or odor. The effluent hasn't been tested as required by the permit. We have included an attachment to this report that lists NC certified laboratories where you can have the water tested. During the inspection you informed Mr. Boone that that the septic tank is pumped as needed. Mr. Boone reminded you it should be pumped no less frequently than every five years according to the permit. Pumping records were not readily available during the inspection. The permit also requires that you keep records of when you have the tank pumped. You showed Mr. Boone the chlorine tablets you use. They are the correct type, i.e. for wastewater disinfection and between 60 and 70 percent of calcium hypochlorite, but you had some 3" and 1" tablets, which is also acceptable. You should keep each chlorinator tube stocked with the equivalent of two to three 3" tablets at all times. We have attached information to assist you in finding the proper type of chlorine. You are technically non -compliant with the permit due to not having it tested annually.
