Rachel,
The US Army Corps of Engineers has reviewed your request to modify the existing permit issued to the Town of
Southern Shores to replace the existing bridge over Snow Goose Canal on Dogwood Trail in the town of Southern Shores
in Dare County, North Carolina. You requested authorization to place riprap material in approximately 585 square feet of
jurisdictional waters adjacent to the bridge to stabilize the shoreline. This request is consistent with the terms and
conditions of the Nationwide Permit and the additional impact is authorized. The original permit conditions including the
expiration date remain in effect. In addition, the following Special Conditions apply:
1) Riprap material must be installed as shown on the attached plats. No material may extend waterward of the
remaining bulkhead alignment.
2) Riprap must be of sufficient size to prevent movement from authorized alignment by natural forces under normal
conditions.

Tracy and Garcy,
Thank you both for attending the Tall Pine Bridge Replacement Project preconstruction meeting in Southern Shores this
morning. As noted during the meeting, there will be some rip rap installed at the new bulkhead under the water line in
the amounts shown in the email below from our civil engineer, Kimley-Horn. I request that our permits from both of
your agencies be revised due to this condition. Please let me know if you need anything else from me in order to
complete this request.

Rachel,
During the meeting today Tracy asked for some additional information from KH to include in an amendment for the
permit. I believe the information below is what she needs:
South side of stream: Estimated area of Riprap below WSE - 276 SF
North side of stream: Estimated area of Riprap below WSE - 309 SF
Could you please include this information in the letter she requested. Please let me know if you need anything else.
Also, once we receive confirmation of file type and a contact, we can forward the cadd files to the contractor.
Thanks,
