One, BOD, is an oxygen consuming waste. Currently the permit limits for BOD are: Monthly Average Weekly Average 10.0 mg/L 15.0 mg/L The draft SOC calls for a monthly average of 30.0 mg/L with no weekly average limitation. The design flow of the facility is 4.0 MGD, as is its permit flow limit. Currently, the facility's discharge averages 0.84451 MGD, or 21.1 % of capacity. Discharge is into the South Fork Catawba River, WS-V waters of the State. Within the SOC the Town has asked for a flow allocation of 0.54252 MGD to allow for reasonable growth during the life of the SOC. This construction project is underway. It is believed that on -site construction has disturbed some treatment efficiencies, thus prompting the SOC amendment. As drafted, the amendment would simply extend the final compliance date by 4 months, to July 31, 2007. Please see me if I can answer any questions.
