Director Mr. Gary Eddinger 184 Dixie Trail Thomasville, NC 27360 NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality February 27, 2024 SUBJECT: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Eddinger Single Family Residence Certificate of Coverage No. NCG550266 Davidson County Dear Mr. Eddinger: On February 26, 2024, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Caudle conducted a routine compliance inspection of the wastewater system serving the residence at 184 Dixie Trail. You were present during the entire inspection. Observations indicate that the subsurface sandfilter was operating properly. The inspection noted that chlorine tablets were not in the two chlorinator tubes located near the split rail fence in the backyard. Please place calcium hypochlorite tablets in the chlorine tubes as soon as possible. The discharge pipe (black corrugated plastic) terminates on the hillside approximately 15ft short of the tributary of Rich Fork Creek. As noted in the previous 2010, 2014, and 2019 inspections, the pipe was dry. It appears that the system has not discharged effluent in several years, if at all. Please be aware that Part I.D(3) of the permit requires that the septic tank be pumped out at least once every five years. This is necessary to prevent grease and solids from clogging the sand filter that could result in costly repairs. Should you have any questions concerning this report, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Caitlin Caudle at the letterhead address and phone number, or by email at Caitlin.caudle@deg.nc.gov.
