HomeMy WebLinkAboutWQ0023491_SFR Inspection Letter WQ0023491_20240223February 23, 2024 Michael Tenoever 6225 Wake Forest Road Durham, NC 27703 SUBJECT: Compliance Inspection Report 6225 Wake Forest Road SFR Non-discharge Permit No. WQ0023491 Wake County Dear Permittee: The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the 6225 Wake Forest Road SFR on 1/19/2024. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Non-discharge Permit No. WQ0023491. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". Division records indicate a treatment system consisting of a 1278-gallon baffled septic tank with filter; a 1,278-gallon recirculation tank with a 13-gallom/ minute (GPM) pump, 600-gallon treatment pod, audible /visual high water alarms; UV disinfection unit, a 4,500-gallon storage /dosing tank, a 0.43-acre spray irrigation area with six spray nozzles; and all associated piping, valves, controls and appurtenances. During the inspection, the following was observed: Schedule (Section I of permit): 1.The permit expires on June 30, 2024. A permit renewal application has not been received as of the date of this letter. Please submit a renewal application. A copy of the application can be downloaded from our website. https://www.deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/water-resources/permitting/non- discharge/application-forms#ApplicationForms-3156 2.An engineering certification was to be submitted upon abandonment of the previous septic tank. DWR does not have a record of the engineering certification for closure. Please submit the certification within 30 days of receipt of this letter 3.An engineering certification was to be submitted upon the completion of the septic modification. Operation and Maintenance (O&M) (Section III): 5.During the inspection, the fencing around the irrigation area was adequate and intact. 6.Two of the sprayers were not rotating. Please have the spray heads repaired or replaced. 7.The septic tank was filled to the top. Please have the system serviced to prevent overflow. 8.The pump tanks, rain gauge and alarms appeared to be functional. Monitoring and Reporting (Section IV)and Inspections (Section V): 9.Cory Brantley is the maintenance contractor. He is scheduled for two times a year or as needed for repairs. General Conditions (Section VI): 10.The facility continues to be owned by Mr.Tenoever and annual fees have been paid. No violations have been reported in the past five years. This report is a notification of the results of the compliance inspection. Within 30-days receipt of this letter, submit a written response to this office addressing the issues noted in items 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 above. Please be aware that non-compliance with your permit could result in enforcement action by the Division of Water Resources for these and any other violations of State law. Mr. Tenoever called his contractor to schedule maintenance on the septic to prevent it from overflowing.
