Our rules/permits do allow for minimal amounts of piping under driveways and roads within the low density area when it cannot be avoided. A common example of a situation where piping/a driveway crossing is allowed in a drainage easement is if there is a roadside ditch located in front of the parcel and the only way to access the parcel is by crossing the drainage easement. Tamera Eplin in the Winston-Salem Regional Office would be a good contact for an inspector from the Regional Office. Jim, We realize you are not the right person to speak with about this. We are not sure how to answer the homeowners questions with regards to the swales in their yards. We assume that someone in a local office will probably be inspecting them on some kind of regular basis so we are hoping you can point us in the right direction as to who that might be. Thanks for your help. 1 Tripp Bunker Sagamore Homes NC V.P.
