The SOC Quarterly Progress Report (covering 11.1.2023 through 1.31.2024) for the Town of Edenton is provided below.
USDA RD WWTP Sprayfield Improvements
The WWTP Improvements project is scheduled in two phases. Phase I involves improvements to the existing treatment and
sprayfield facilities. Phase II includes acquisition of a new sprayfield site and construction of new sprayfield amenities. The
following notes indicate actions taken by the Town for both phases from the previous update. Should additional or more
detailed information be needed, please reach out to Gary Hartong with The Wooten Company or me.
Phase 1— WWTP Renovations
• October 2023 — Shop drawing submittals for mechanical equipment (headworks, floating aerators, pumps, etc.)
were reviewed and approved. Additional coordination was conducted with USACE, USFWS and USDA RD for
clearing parts of Fields 5-10.
• November 2023 - Field clearing for Sprayfields 1-42 commenced. Town continues to seed fields with rye grass after
forestry mulching.
• December 2023 - Foundation and slab for new headworks completed by Contractor. Baffle curtain replacement
completed by Contractor.
• January 2024 - Town submitted a request for Erosion Control and Sedimentation Permit modification to NCDEQ
and is awaiting approval. Contractor verifying valve locations and sprayfield line sizes. New valve cut -ins may be
required for inoperable header valves. Contractor continuing with submittals for valves, actuators, and
administration building improvements.
Phase 11— WWTP Expansion
• December 2023 - Terracon was authorized to provide limited soils analysis for the 70 acre Mizelle site.
• January 2024 - Terracon's report was delivered indicating that 22 wetted acres could provide an additional 100-
150K GPD disposal given soil types.
• January 2024 - The Wooten Company is evaluating projected 20-year disposal and sprayfield acreage demands
based on recent Ill mitigation and WWTP influent flowrates.
