General Project Narrative:
U-6146 involves the widening of US 29 / 74 (Wilkinson Blvd.) from SR 2209 (Wesleyan Dr.) to Georgia Belle Ave. near Cramertion, NC. The project includes the replacement of

Bridge # 350082 over South Fork Catawba River. A proposed 450' long by 11 5'wide 5-span bridge is to replace the existing 419' x 50' wide 8 span bridge at the same location.
Quality Impacts)
Per NC DEQ's riparian buffers frequently asked questions on their website, Catawba River Riparian Buffer rules apply to the South Fork of the Catawba River up to the 569'
elevation of Lake Wylie (full pond). Because the project crossing is within this area of influence, Catawba River Riparian Buffer rules would apply. No direct discharge of
stormwater into the river is proposed on the project. Runoff is to be collected on -deck / in closed drainage system and will be outleted outside of buffer zone 2.
Project minimum measures include:
>Providing Adequate Ground Cover.
>Stabilizing Embankments and Drainage Ditches.
>Providing Adequate Energy Dissipation.
>Utilizing Natural Features and Drainage Pathways - Existing drainage pathways were utilized to the maximum extent practicable.
>Encouraging Diffuse Flow- Variable width base ditch were utilized to diffuse roadway ditch flow that discharge into wetlands. Preformed scour holes are also proposed in the
flood plain of South Fork Catawba River.
>Minimizing direct discharges from bridges.
