General Project Narrative: R-5023B includes the widening of NC 53 (2-lane to 3-lane) from 0.2 miles west of SR 1214 (Foy Lockamy Rd) to SR 1116 (Onslow-Pines Rd) in Onslow County. The project
(Description of Minimization of Water also includes widening/improvements at the NC 53 / SR 1109 (Holly Shelter Rd.) intersection. Proposed roadside ditches were designed to meet grass swale criteria (maximum
Quality Impacts) 3:1 side slopes). Grass swale data at the permit sites have been provided where applicable.
The project also includes the improvement of 2 crossings on jurisdictional streams (greater than 60" pipe conveyance).
-Site 1(-L- 34+20): UT to Southwest Creek - The existing t@ 24" RCP (L=46') is to be replaced with a 1@ 66" x 51" CAPA (L=80').
-Site 4(-L- 87+41): UT to Blue Creek - The existing 1@ 4' x 4' RCBC (L=46') is to be replaced with a 1@ 6' x 6' RCBC (L=68').
