I have forwarded it to Jeff, Mark, and Theo, so any of them could be a contact.
Thanks! I saw that too!! Good thing I had only planned on going into an inch or two of water anyway!

I almost mentioned a mod—then I remembered it was a different GC. And the GC for utility does say anything over 15
feet needs written approval-so sounds like they need to submit. I appreciate you folks catching it!
Please forward my email on and I will talk with him if he feels the need. And have a great vacation—and don’t get BIT by
a SHARK! (I saw another one in the news today near Murrell’s Inlet!)

Also, most like PDEA wouldn’t be submitting anything for a modification since the NW 12, GC 3884 is for utility impacts.

When do they plan to submit? Is there someone I should call?

Neither… I believe utility line work was always expected to be part of the project, since there are no water lines to that
area. However, for whatever reason, PDEA did not include those impacts as part of the project. Perhaps because they
did not know at the time specifically the route that the utility company was going to take.

Hi Trish,
Is this an area you discovered during either yours or Neil’s inspections? Or was it omitted from the 401 submittal by
mistake and then you discovered them doing the work?
Thanks,
Donna

Donna,

FYI… Keeping you in the loop. Utility impacts were not covered in the permit for this project. 401 issued January 26,
2015, Project No. 20150029v.1

Based upon the permit for this project, there does not appear to be any wetlands in the vicinity of the waterline crossing
and will involve one crossing of a jurisdictional stream. I have attached a copy of the Nationwide 12 and the
corresponding GC 3884, which are the federal and state permits for utility line activities in jurisdictional areas. Please
note the circumstances which require the utility companies to obtain written authorization from the agencies,
specifically the requirement if the stream crossing impact is greater than 15 feet wide.
I have contacted Raleigh regarding whether the concurrence from USFWS service which we obtained for the DOT part of
the project also covers the tree cutting which is required for the installation of the water line and will let you know when
I receive a response.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Trish,
Is there tree protection for mitigation purposes in the red area? Iredell water is proposing a waterline through this area
which would require some trees to be cut. If trees can be cut, are there any restrictions due to bats?
Are there any restrictions on directional bore in this area?
Thanks,
