Re: Duke Energy Progress, Inc.
Yadkin -Pee Dee Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. 2206)
License Article 406 — Recreation Flow Release Plan
Dear Secretary Bose:
I ;R _A . A.
Duke Energy Corporation
526 South Church Street
Charlotte, NC 28202
On August 21, 2015, Duke Energy Progress, Inc. (Duke Energy) informed the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission (Commission) of a potential drawdown of Lake Tillery that could result from the
implementation of the Recreation Flow Release Assessment Study (Study) for the Yadkin -Pee Dee
Hydroelectric Project (Project). Duke Energy had requested Commission approval to temporarily exceed
the 1.5 -foot drawdown allowed by the New License over August 28 -30, 2015 in order to complete this
study. This letter serves as notification to the Commission that this variance from the requirements of the
New License was not necessary. Duke Energy effectively began the study with the elevation of Lake
Tillery at 278.0 feet (0.2 feet below full pond elevation) which allowed the flow releases to be made
within the 1.5 -foot drawdown allowed by the New License. The study concluded on August 30, 2015
and the lowest reservoir elevation achieved during the study was 277.5 feet (0.7 feet below full pond).
Thank you for your consideration. Questions can be directed to Tami Styer at (704) 382 -0293
