Incident#202301165 was the result of an 8" PVC sewerline break, which was caused by a tree uprooting and breaking the sewerline. There was no root intrusion into the 8" PVC line. City of Hickory crews responded quickly to dig out the break and repair the line. After the repairs were made the crews cleaned up debris from the SSO and repaired the creekbank. The City of Hickory takes all violations seriously and works diligently in promoting and protecting the environment, health and natural resources of our community through responsible stewardship in the collection and treatment of wastewater and hopes you will consider the above factors when considering enforcement action against the violation that occurred.
