Stephen,
Thank you for reviewing the site and for providing your feedback. I have passed your comments
along to the Mitigation Unit to get there input on the best path forward. I have suggested to them
that we replant the area, hopefully using better technics which could result in better vegetation
coverage. I want to do whatever it takes to avoid from this area being deemed as a permanent
impact that requires mitigation. I'll let you know what the Department's plan is as soon as it is
Thanks!

Hi Mason,
I was able to get out to the site last week. It does appear to have made some progress, however the
impacts are still readily apparent. Please see attached photo. I would not be inclined to say the
impacts are resolved at this point. I will leave it up to DOT to determine the best path forward from
here, however, it could of been a bad planting event last time with only some of the plants taking
root. I would agree that it likely would be a waste of time and money to replant in the areas that are
inundated at low tide, however, it could potentially be cost effective to try one more planting event
in the areas that are dry at low tide. Other acceptable options would include considering the
impacts as permanent and providing mitigation for them or continuing to monitor the site for
potential progress. Please give me a call if you would like to discuss further.
Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Mason,
I will try to do a site visit (possibly as early as next week) to get a better handle on this after which I
should be able to give you some feedback.
Have a great weekend!
Stephen

Good afternoon Stephen,
Matt Green with Roadside emailed me the attached photo history of the replanting and revegetation
of Site 4 on B-4929. It appears that we have had some additional spread of vegetation but a mud
flat is still present. At our last site visit, I think we agreed that we would to continue to monitor
another year but that replanting again was not feasible. Are you good with this progress in
reestablishment of vegetation and be inclined to close this out in March when requested? Just
want to get a feeling on what you thinking about this site. I think another attempt at replanting
would be a waste of time and money
Thanks!
