Dear Mr. Weaver,
The Town of Mount Olive holds NPDES Permits for the discharge of backwash from two water treatment
plants:
- NPDES Permit NC0086801 Gordon Street WTP
311 Gordon Street, Mt. Olive,NC
- NPDES Permit NC0003051 Mt Olive Water Treatment Plant#3
179 Northeast Church Street, Mt.Olive,NC
The backwash discharge lines for these facilities are also connected to the Town's sanitary sewer
collection system. For the recent past,the Town has chosen to discharge to the collection system and not
to have a direct discharge from these facilities.
The Town is requesting that both of the subject NPDES permits be rescinded. The backwash discharge
has had no effect on the wastewater treatment plant and the Town will continue to discharge to the
collection system.
