Typical Cross Section Description: Paved 10' lanes with 4' grassed houlder section (7' shoulder with GR, 3' paved) Paved 9' lanes with 3' grassed shoulder section Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Design/Future: N/A Year: N/A I Existing: 490 Year: 2016 General Project Narrative: (Description of Minimization of Water Quality Impacts) 17BP.13.R.158 is a bridge to culvert replacement project that involves removing Yancey County bridge #120, on SR 1395 (Bald Mtn Rd.) over Jim Creek, and replacing with a 2@10'x4' RCBC with sills and baffles. The existing bridge is 1 @26' timber deck on steel 1-beams with vertical concrete abutments. Measures have been implemented to reduce impacts to the stream and surrounding properties include, maintaining exsting drainage patterns, using 2:1 fill slopes and retaining wall to minimize impacts to adjacent stream. Construction will be phased, eliminating the need for onsite detour. The banks are stable with no unusual channel degredation. The proposed culvert was set to best align with the exisitng upstream and downstream low flow channel. (provide justification) Yes In order to mimic the existing stream width, low flow floodplain benches were used. Sharp Bends at Inlet/Outlet?
