Andrew, We will have no need to apply for renewal of our previous discharge permit. The original purpose for the permit was to allow Kruger to run their pilot study to satisfy the State's settled water turbidity requirements that they had set before allowing us to put the Actiflo Treatment process online. The 2- week study required by the State satisfied their requirements. As we transitioned from our old conventional plant to our new Actiflo Treatment Plant the discharge line was taken offline and has been inoperable since. On August 12th 2019 Ron Boone from DWR visited our plant to do a compliance evaluation inspection. He was shown and walked through the discharge procedure that was used in the pilot study. Our previous Utilities Director made the decision to renew the permit as noted in the email sent to Tom Moore on 10/9/19 despite the fact that it is no longer needed. All of our waste is received by the Sewer Authority in Elkin. If you need more information on the situation, please feel free to let me know and I will provide you with what you need. Please let me know that this email provides you with what NCDEQ needs to close our request of any discharge needs.
