(CESI)has performed an evaluation of seasonal high-water table (SHWT) on the above referenced project. The SHWT was performed within the area of the proposed sand filter, as shown below: 45 Spring Street, SW P.O. Box 268 Concord, NC 28026-0268 704-786-5404 www.cesicgs.com NC License No. C-0263 On March 1, 2023, a CESI representative monitored the excavation and the soil horizon at the above referenced location. At the proposed test location, a New Holland mini excavator owned and operated by WD Smith Grading was used to excavate the area to a depth of 3.5’ below existing ground surface. The soilhorizon encountered at the excavation included: 12” of existing sediment pond fines. Heavily weathered rock, sampled as brown and yellow, transitioning to gray, brown and olive SILT (ML) was encountered down the termination depth of 3.5’ below existing grades. No water was recorded at the time of excavation. No indications of groundwater were observed to the depths explored. On March 3, 2023, CESI returned to the site to observe the conditions within the excavation. No water was observed in the excavation. As a result of our site observations, we offer the following: Sand Filter Seasonal High-Water Table Ground Elevation at Test Location Elevation 677.5 Bottom of Excavation Elevation 674.0 Water Level Elevation not encountered Bottom Sand Filter Elevation 676.0 24” Buffer Requirement Elevation 674.0 Based on our observations it was determined that the seasonal high groundwater elevation at the proposed sand filter location is deeper than 674.0. The seasonal highwater elevation supports the use of a sand filter at this location and elevation.
