Yes Project Description Project Length (lin. miles or feet): 3.77 Surrounding Land Use: I Residential, Commerical (Rural) Proposed Project Existing Site Project Built -Upon Area ac. 31.0 ac. 24.2 ac. Typical Cross Section Description: Proposed 2 lane partially divided highway; 2 paved lanes (total 24' wide), 8' shoulder on each side (11' with guardrail). Varying fill and cut slopes (see project XSC's for detailed information). 3 lane portions along the project with painted/striped medians and new turn lanes. Realignement of multiple curves and grades for better site distances. Existing 2 lane, open shoulder highway; 11' lanes, 2' shoulders on each side (wider in locations with guardrail). Steep grades and tight curves (with poor sight lines). Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Design/Future: 11,122 Year: 2050 Existing: 9,000 Year: 2020 General Project Narrative: (Description of Minimization of Water Quality Impacts) The widening of US 19/129 from the Georgia State line to US 64/74 will involve grading, paving, widening, drainage improvements (including culverts), signing, signals and utility work. This project will have an updgraded signalized intersection with US 64/74 and median/dedicated turn lanes at the intersections with almost all Y lines (Jim Cordell Rd, Moccasin Creek Rd, Martins Creek Rd, Mountain Willow Rd, Price Weaver Rd, Lance Rd, Taylor Hensen Rd, and US 64/74). There are two proposed major structures along the project; an extended existing 8'x8' double barreled culvert with a proposed 72" overflow pipe conveying Cobb Creek, and a new 8'x9' single barreled culvert conveying Gold Branch Creek. Where excavation is necessary, coir fiber matting and rip -rap were utilized for bank stabilization in an attempt to reduce sediment transport and streambank erosion. Measures have been taken, including reduction of pipe slopes & energy riffles in channel changes, to lower velocities at jurisdictional features to non -erosive. In an effort to minimize impacts to the project, the team used 2:1 side slopes with guardrail in stream areas where feasible. All of the design is within the Hiwassee River Basin.
