Remarks and Recommendations:
Partial review of project borrow pit with Jeremy Guy and Scott Wyrick.
Received a call and request for guidance on erosion control issues at the above site.
Contractor did not have all the parts on hand to complete the riser on the large EC basin. The entire drainage
area for this basin has been cleared and grubbed at this time. The basin was not installed per plans prior to
beginning ground disturbing operations.
An erosion control crew has been working on the basin but other crews were directed to start earth moving
work by the contractor before they have been able to finish basin installation per the EC plans and direction by
Jeremy and Scott.
Per our discussions, the contractor was directed to install temporary silt ditches across the drainage area. This
is to help slow any storm water runoff and trap sediment before it reaches the basin. This has been done.
The discharge pipe for the basin has been installed and a temporary rock pipe inlet sediment trap added
until the riser can be installed . That should be done this next week as soon as possible. Side slopes should
be completed and seeded/matted, baffles installed and the rear slope of the basin stabilized. The outlet berm
should be completed and stabilized by the end of the day today. Basin should be completed in all aspects
except the riser pipe by the end of today.
The erodible drainage area is to be seeded and mulched. Permanent seed the area between the basin outlet
berm and the silt fence.
Direct all site runoff into the basin and use slope drains to drop the runoff into the basin to prevent eroding the
sides.
Wrap and add zip ties to the silt fence outlet to prevent the fabric from tearing loose under pressure from
runoff.
The contractor needs to insure EC installation is done before beginning earth disturbing activity thru-out the
project. Failure to follow the an approved EC plan and procedures can result in issuance of ICA reports and
possible issuance of NOVs from outside agencies.
