The Animal Feeding Operation Program of the Division of Water Resources (Division) has completed a
preliminary review of your request (application package) for an increase in cattle numbers (by additional
200 Milk cows & 100 Dairy Heifers). Additional information is required before we may continue our
review. Please address and submit the following item(s)within 30(thirty)days of receipt of this letter:
❑ Mortality Control Checklist with selected compositing method requires NC Department of
Agriculture & Consumer Services Veterinary Division approval: Our records show that on the
application you indicated that compositing will be used for mortality management. Enclosed is a
copy of the Mortality Management Methods checklist submitted with your application. A
composting system approved and permitted by the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer
Services Veterinary Division is required. If compost is distributed off-farm, additional
requirements must be met and a permit is required from NC DEQ. Please submit an approval letter
from Veterinary Division.
Please reference the subject application number when providing the requested information. All revised
and/or additional documentation shall be signed, dated and sent to my attention at the address below. The
