Typical Cross Section Description: Two 11' lanes with 5' bike lanes on each side and curb and gutter. Total proposed roadway width is 36' face of curb to face of curb. 10' grassed berms behind curb with sidewalk on south side. Two 9' wide travel lanes with variable width grass shoulder. Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Design/Future: 2448 Year: 2040 Existing: 2400 Year: 2018 General Project Narrative: (Description of Minimization of Water Quality Impacts) The purpose of the project is to widen US 64 Business from the intersection with US 64 to Hiwassee Street in Hayesville. A proposed roundabout will be constructed at the US 64 Business / Hiwasse Street intersection. An existing 2 @ 6' x 4' RCBC conveys Town Creek under US 64 Business. This existing culvert will be replaced with 2 @ 7' x 7' RCBC with inverts buried 1'. The leftmost barrel will have a 1' high sill and the rightmost barrel (high flow barrel) will have a 2' high sill. Town Creek is included in a Limited Detail Flood Insurance Study. Existing drainage patterns are being maintained and existing outfalls are being utilized. Storm drainage disharge is separated from offsite cross drainage discharge where practicable. Berm ditches will be installed at the top of steep cuts to intercept water and prevent erosion of the cut slope.
