Effective l April 2017 Jonathan Chase is appointed to the position of President, Deere -Hitachi
Construction Machinery Corporation.
In this assignment, Jon will have responsibility for all Deere -Hitachi joint venture operations in
North America. This includes excavator design and manufacturing at Kernersville, North
Carolina, and forestry swing machines at Deere -Hitachi Specialty Products in Langley, British
Columbia.
Since joining Deere in 2001, Jon has progressed through a number of challenging positions in the
former C&CE Division and the Ag & Turf Division. Experiences include Strategic Marketing
Lead for Region 2 as well as Factory Manager, John Deere Seeding Moline where he was a part
of the team responsible for implementing a far reaching Factory Master Plan in parallel with the
launch of the new ExactEmergeTM high speed planter. Most recently, Jon held the position of
Product Line Director, Self -Propelled Forage Harvesters & Heads where he was part of the team
responsible for delivering the new 8000 Series SPFH to market.
Jon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University and
an MBA from the Harvard Business School. His technical background, collaborative spirit and
Deere factory experience well qualify him for this important assignment.

support and cooperation. Jon and his family will relocate to Kerriersville, NC and will report to

On January 26, 2016 Glen White of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality;
Department of Energy, Minerals and Land Resources met with you at the subject facility located
at 1140 W Mountain Street, Kernersville, NC to conduct an inspection for compliance with the
facilities Industrial Stormwater Permit. Inspection consist of review of the Stormwater Pollution
Prevention Plan, training and monitoring records and observation of the general condition of the
site and all outfalls. Present and assisting with inspection were your engineers Brandon Hill, PE
and Winfred Locus, The Facility Supervisor Bobby Bryant, and yourself, Environmental
Coordinator. Everyone's cooperation and assistance with the inspection was greatly appreciated.
Permit:
This facility holds General Stormwater Permit NCG030646 to discharge stormwater from
industrial activity associated with Metal Fabrication under the National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System (NPDES). The permit became effective November 1, 2012 and expires on
October 31, 2017. A copy of the current permit is required to be maintained with the Stormwater
Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) documents. A copy of the current permit was available for
review at the time of inspection.
Records/Reports:
This facility was required to develop and maintain a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
(SPPP) in accordance with Part II, Section A of the pernnit. The SPPP for this facility is
maintained in the computer system. No discrepancies found.
Facility Site Review:
This facility is currently vacant and the building is only used for storage. No industrial activity
takes places at the site but the permit is new as current. Site may or may not be used in industrial
activity in the future. 'Phis site is a Brownsfield clean-up site with active monitoring wells and
treatment system. It was designated as Brownsfield prior to Deere -Hitachi's purchase.

Effluent Receiving Waters:
Stormwater from this facility drains to receiving waters designated as UT to Belows Creek
(Kernersville Lake), a class WSIV;CA water of the Roanoke River Basin via outfalls as
identified on the SPPP.
Self -Monitoring Program:
Monitoring currently being conducted onsite is per the Brownsfield requirements. Since no
industrial activity occurs on this site, monitoring requirements for this permit are suspended. If
the site begins to be used in an industrial capacity begin monitoring at the following rainfall
event.

I looked into the tax records and it looks like the precast company was the owner until 2013, when it was sold to Deere
Hitachi, who is listed as the current property owner. Went by the site today and it is OK to issue the permit.

Actually, one thing — there's another facility at that address called Carolina Cast Stone Company, Inc. (NCG070188). The
permit is listed as expired in BIMS. I tried calling the contacts but the numbers have all been disconnected. Any word on
