SUBJECT: Lake Gaston EIS Meeting
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has just decided that
an Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared for the proposed
Lake Gaston Pipeline Project. North Carolina needs to prepare to
take part in the scoping process for the EIS and review of the
draft EIS.
Alan Hirsch has asked to meet with us to plan this work. We
have scheduled a meeting in the 11th floor conference room of the
Archdale Building at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 1994. Beth
Fischer of the Attorney General's Office is having copies made of
the Final Environmental Assessment which documents FERC's decision
to require an Environmental Impact Statement. Beth will try to get
a copy of this to you so that you can review before the meeting.
We are inviting individuals who have participated or worked on
the Lake Gaston Project previously. I am also sending a copy of
this memo to several division directors so that they may review the
upcoming effort and determine who should represent their division
as the work proceeds. Any other attendees at the meeting will be
welcome.
