He arrived onsite and called a crew to fix the issue right away. The crew Jetted the sewer main with a Vactor truck from manhole #2801 to manhole #2807 to remove the blockage. We had heavy rain during the time of this incident. We found that the sewer main was stopped up with rags and paper towels. We TV'd the main to make sure the blockage was clear and that there was no more issues. When TV'ing the main we found a couple of small roots hanging from the top so we came back the next day and root cut the main for a total of 150 foot to make sure no further issues will happen. The City of Asheboro requests that the NCDENR refrain from taking any enforcement action as a result of this incident. There was no environmental impact. The Water and Sewer Maintenance Department acted immediately on the problem. Thank you for your time in this matter. If you have any questions please contact me at 336-626-1234 ext. 2205. Sincerely, Shannon White Water/Sewer Maintenance Superintendent 96V 2470 OV 0612 IN 2oL 1 ooai2 .41 r%dJj vr&e"a ATTACHMENT A City of Asheboro CASE NUMBER: DV-2021-0012 PERMIT NO: WQCS00025 REGION: Winston-Salem FACILITY: Asheboro Collection System COUNTY: Randolph Other Violations INCIDENT VIOLATION TOTAL VOLUME PENALTY NUMBER .DATE VIOLATION TYPE VIOLATION DESCRIPTION (GALLONS) AMOUNT 202002620 9/17/2020 CSO/SSO(Sewer Overflow) Discharge without valid permit 7,300 $750.00
