Good morning Hannah and Tom,
Yesterday afternoon Anneliese visited the site and noted that their bypass pump was running again.
We are having some internal discussions about this issue with our construction unit and the
Wilmington Resident’s Office. Jon will reach out to you to provide an update when we have more
information.
Thanks, and let us know if you have any questions.

Good morning Sophia,
Thanks for the update, please let us know if there have been any changes to the turbidity issues at
Drysdale and if Center Pointe is still not maintaining flow/pumping.
Hannah

Hannah and Tom,
I just wanted to update you quick before the weekend. Brad had someone from the county go out
and check on the turbidity and dewatering situation at Drysdale this morning. They noted that
Center Pointe was not even pumping anything during their visit, so they were not maintaining flow
at all. Center Pointe was told they needed to have two separate pumping operations so that
untreated water is not being pumped directly into the live stream. I think they were also told they
needed to continue bypass pumping. Brad said the county rep was not going to be able to check on
the project again until Monday. I received a call from our assistant resident engineer a little before
4pm and he said the bypass pump is still not running. Center Pointe seems to have left the project
for the day/weekend already. I’m not sure there is anything we can do about it at this time, but I
wanted to let you know what was going on. We will check in on the project on Monday. Please let us
know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Sophia,
I have a pretty busy week coming up so I might have to play it by ear and touch base next week. I
also want to get an update from the county to see if I need to coordinate a visit with my non-dot 401
counterpart. I’ll keep you posted.
Have a good weekend,
Hannah

Hannah,
We would be happy to coordinate a site visit with you. What availability do you have next week? Jon
and Anneliese will be back on Monday, so I am sure at least one of us will be available to meet you.
Tom, I know it would be a longer drive for you, but let us know if you would like to join us too.
Thanks,

Sophia,
Thank you for providing this report, I have also spoken with Brad who has been in contact with the
county. It may be necessary to have a site visit next week depending on how things progress. Matt
Marcinko with Chatham Civil has also reached out regarding the turbidity but I would like to further
discuss the matter with DOT before responding.
Thank you,
Hannah

Tom and Hannah,
Our assistant resident engineer at Drysdale Dr. Ext. (U-5710A) called this morning and said Center
Pointe (the contractor on the private development next to ours) is dewatering from their culvert
hole into the outlet area of our pipe. The intake for their bypass pump is also at our outlet. Our pipe
carries the live stream, and the water they are pumping into our outlet is very turbid. Please see the
attached photos from Joey Jetton. They depict the area at the outlet of our pipe. Mason has been in
touch with Brad Shaver about a previous issue with Center Pointe earlier in the week, so I already
reached out to Brad and left a message. I wanted to let you both know since the turbid water is not
caused by our project, but is on our project. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Sophia –
See attached as we discussed. CenterPoint is pumping out of there excavation/culvert into out 60”
pipe outlet and then bypassing from there. It’s very turbid.
