Amy and Phillip,
Thanks for the information. I followed-up with Mr. Tabor this morning at his property. While out there, I inspected the
clean-up of Site 6 where you reported a minor sediment loss and reviewed the areas draining to Mr. Tabor's pond. I also
met with Scott and Jeremy to discuss my observations and further plans of action regarding this area of the project.
Scott said that DOT intends to deploy a second turbidity curtain to help keep siltation in check. Mr. Tabor was aware of
that fact. The erosion measures looked to be in good working order with no excessive sediment in the channel
upstream or downstream of Site 6 or in sediment basins. A segment of a clean water diversion had been oversprayed
with fertilizer/mulch cover material (see photo). Scott said he would have the material swept out of the diversion since
it discharges to an upstream portion Mr. Tabor's pond. Scott was not sure if the material contained fertilizer, but would
sweep it out regardless to avoid a potential dirty discharge.
In general, the area looks to be in good shape and DOT is in compliance with permit conditions. However, in my opinion,
Mr. Tabor remains cautiously optimistic with DOT's efforts at controlling/managing sedimentation.

I rviwd th EC dvics in that ara today with Scott, th Iad projct inspctor. Thy ar making rpairs on th on
skimmr basin whr th sdimnt loss occurrd and wr working to rstabiliz th surrounding ara as wll. Thy
hav incrasd thir fforts to compact th skimmr basin brms and spillways to hlp prvnt failurs in thos spots.
My rcommndations for that ara wr to stabiliz any rodibl aras rmaining btwn th outlt of th basins and
th vvtland/pond ara and to maintain/rinstall any tmporary divrsions across th grad damagd by construction
traffic. Ths normally nd constant maintnanc.
Thr ar a coupl of spots vvhr th contractor is dirctd to do additional sding and mulching and som additional
silt fnc to b utilizd whil fill matrial is bing placd.
W took som turbidity sampls today on th insid (NCDOT) of th curtain and on th outsid (Mr. Tabor°s) of th
turbidity curtain.
Th Ivls wr 54-55 IVTU's on th IVCDOT sid whr th rock lift is bing installd (it has stilld out and clard som
around this rock at this tim). Th Ivl for Mr. Tabor°s sid vvas 26 NTU°s and th pond appard to b consistnt
across it in rlation th spot w sampld.
Visually, th pond dos not appar to hav bn advrsly impactd by th vvork aras aftr th rcnt rain vnts.

Hi Amy,
FYI, Amy C asked that I call Mr. Tabor about sediment concerns in his pond. He has contacted his legislature rep. Mr.
Tabor wants some additional measures out there ASAP to protect his pond. Let me know what you and Phil are planning
