December 17 2020 at 15:00 hr. I was notified that the sewer line aerial off Eaton Road had been damage and was leaking in to a tributary of Leonard Creek. I immediately called the ORC and notified him that Sewer line aerial had been damaged and was leaking. Upon arrival we determined the pipe size to be 18" clay and our equipment was inadequate for the job. I contacted our private contractor to come in to help restore service, and called our parts supplier for pipe. The only type of pipe we could find was 24" HDPE for a temporary fix, and order ductile lined pipe. We replaced the old aerial with 24" HDPE pipe with bracing across the creek, and after muddying in both connection and having no leaks. We finished up at 03:00 hr. We notified Gary Hudson for the 24hr. verbal notification- and an estimation of flow and split to determine 300,000 gals: And we think heavy rains contributed to the damage;df the sewer line aerial. We followed up with the 5 day report. On January 26 2021 we setup a pump around for the sewer line aerial fora permanent fix of 50ft. 18" ductile lined pipe. We trust that this letter addresses our response to the Notice of Violation and demonstrates the Town of Mocksville's commitment to improving the reporting, record keeping, and over all condition of the wastewater collection system. Based on the immediate actions taken to resolve the issues, and permanent'repair. We respectfully request that the division not seek any further enforcement action for the Notice of Violation: If the Town can be of any further assistance or additional information or pictures are need, please do -not hesitate to contact me. - Brian Moore Public Works Director Town of Mocksville I i 9 0kC
