This letter is in response to the Notice of Intent Case No. NOV-2021-DV-0158
concerning the spill that occurred on Dec 91h, 2020 at 4138 Waterview Road, GuilfordiCounty, High
Point, North Carolina.
The above overflow was caused by grease and roots that were found in the manhole blocking the
invert. The lines feeding this area had been recently checked and flushed as part of our collection
system mini map cleaning program. We believe the recent cleaning may have been the cause of the
overflow due to the amount of lines cleaned in this area. Once the invert was cleared the manhole level
dropped. This line was cleaned, and the frequency of monitoring has been increased to help prevent
any future spills in this area. We do have FOG doorhangers that we distribute in instances like this to
help with educating residents on proper disposal of grease. This line was added to the root treatment
program to assist with preventing any future overflows.
