Replace Brldge # 106 on SR 13 00
Wilkes County, Narth Carolna
Project lTumber: 1'1BP.11.R.116 (D'Q Permit Fe: 24t1)
Dear lr. Williams:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is scheduled ta replac ridge # 16 with .
nevv bridge at the same location under our Design u11d Program. The existing bridge zs 4 sans
with total dimensions of 24' wide x 120' long. he proposed new brde is 3 spas 30' x
135'. Impacts associated with the bridge itself are limited to temporary work pacls. I-vvevr, v
do have unnamed tributaries running parallel to th road on both sides of the bridgee Lue a the
upgraded bridge width, we can avoid filling one of these tributaries but not bath. .A.s a result, w
vill be relacating a small intermittent stream in th sutheastern quadrart of th structure. 'his
feature is much smallr than the perennial t.T loate. n the northwester. quadrat so it made
more sense to move this one. Project impacts will also iclude a small amcu.t of banl
stabilization and ane vvet pipe extenslon (see permit drawings). IIitigation will be providd
through EEP. No on-site detour is proposed.
Corstruction of this proj ect will require impacts io waters of the LTnted States in he adkin
River Basin. The exisiing bridge crosses the North Prong of Lewis Frk Creek (Class: ). The
subj ect proj ect will have no effect on an federally listed endangered plant or animal species.
Cultural resource compliance work has been completed with na confllcts identified.
The praj ect impacts are not slgnificant in nature and sould not remove or degrade xisting water
quality uses. Storm.water will be routed through gras or rock lined ditches, dependg on the
ditch line slope. Total land disturbance will be less than 1 acre. Ppe sizes used will be th
minimum necessary to create a safe roadvvay. All appropriate BIVIPs will b usd durng
construction.
