In 2020, we sampled below and above Evans Rd by about 1-2 miles in each direction and got zero wild trout at the 3 stops (4 counting a UT).The creek is largely flat and shallow and there was a lot of creepy slick algae in the creek when we were there in July. Given these facts, no moratorium requests from me on this one. Thanks for checking in advance. We are planning to replace an old/hazardous wooden bridge this spring over Big Pine Creek, Evans Rd (SR 1479). https://www.google.com/maps/place/36%C2%BO29'50.8%22N+80%C2%BO57'18.6%22W/@36.4 974446,- 80.9564564,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!1m7!3m6!1sOx8851965182433eff:Ox694f27eO8e13204f!2sSpart a,+NC+28675!3b1!8m2!3d36.5054071!4d- 81.1209189!3m5!1sOxO:Oxe01b5f01236fe537!7e2!8m2!3d36.497442!4d-80.9551554 The bridge is entirely within Blue Ridge Parkway property, so I'm working with them to authorize the replacement. There are no proposed jurisdictional impacts, and not planning to pursue any permits. We are actually going to put the new supports further from the creek, so should be less impact than currently. Blue Ridge Parkway will conduct their own biological assessment, but thought I'd reach out to see if you thought a trout moratorium was warranted? I'm assuming BRP probably relies on your fish data, so thought I'd go ahead and check with you. I think we will probably wait till late April to start (assuming I get the ok from BRP by then), and should be done way before October. But,you never know.....regardless, not an issue if you want a moratorium Thanks!
