Box 27687 Raleigh, NC 27611-7687 Dear Mr. Shanklin: ) U N '.1. Re: NPDES Permit Application Town of Kure Beach Reference is made to our telephone conversation of this date with Ms. Betsy Johnson of your staff relative to the subject ap- plication. Ms. Johnson is running the waste load allocation and asked us about concentrations of heavy metals in the discharge. As we explained to Ms. Johnson, heavy metals are expected in the Kure Beach effluent discharge, but at very nominal concentra- tions typical of domestic waste discharges. As Kure Beach's waste stream is 100-percent domestic in nature (no industrial components), heavy metal values are not to be considered sig- nificant or unusual. I trust that this information meets your needs at this time. Please call me or Mr. Carl H. Farmer, Jr., P. E. of this office if you have any questions or if we may be of further service in any way. Thank you. Sincerely yours, HENRY VON OESEN AND ASSOCIATES, I William E. Burnett, Env. Planner WEB/GGB cc: Hon. Edward M. Niedens, Mayor
