Charles Shapiro,
The 2021 Residuals Annual Report for Novozymes Class A Residuals Distribution
Program was reviewed by WQROS staff on October 18, 2022. The report was received on
February 11, 2022. A signed certification form was submitted and indicated compliance.
In 2021, Novozymes distributed a total of 15,002 dry tons of residuals. This included
1,804 dry tons of amendments, 1,388 dry tons Waste Activated Sludge (WAS), and 11,810
dry tons of Spent Biomass (SBM). Class A residuals were distributed to multiple people for
agricultural soil amendments.
Monitoring for metals and nutrients was conducted in excess of permit
requirements and no exceedances were noted. TCLP analyses is required once per permit
cycle under this Class A permit and was not included with this report.
Pathogen (PAR) and Vector Attraction Reduction (VAR) was completed 4 times
during 2021. PAR was demonstrated through salmonella density and VAR was met through
Alternative 6. Alkaline Stabilization. This monitoring frequency is determined based on the
amount of WAS residuals generated by the facility during the year.
The report was received on time and in the proper format. At the time of the report
review the facility appeared compliant with the annual report requirement.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Manuel
