Shapiro – Senior Director Novozymes North America, Inc. 77 Perrys Chapel Church Road Franklinton, NC 27525 Subject: Annual Report Review Permit No. WQ0003487 Novozymes North America Distribution of Class A Residuals Franklin County Charles Shapiro, The 2021 Residuals Annual Report for Novozymes Class A Residuals Distribution Program was reviewed by WQROS staff on October 18, 2022. The report was received on February 11, 2022. A signed certification form was submitted and indicated compliance. In 2021, Novozymes distributed a total of 15,002 dry tons of residuals. This included 1,804 dry tons of amendments, 1,388 dry tons Waste Activated Sludge (WAS), and 11,810 dry tons of Spent Biomass (SBM). Class A residuals were distributed to multiple people for agricultural soil amendments. Monitoring for metals and nutrients was conducted in excess of permit requirements and no exceedances were noted. TCLP analyses is required once per permit cycle under this Class A permit and was not included with this report. Pathogen (PAR) and Vector Attraction Reduction (VAR) was completed 4 times during 2021. PAR was demonstrated through salmonella density and VAR was met through Alternative 6. Alkaline Stabilization. This monitoring frequency is determined based on the amount of WAS residuals generated by the facility during the year. The report was received on time and in the proper format. At the time of the report review the facility appeared compliant with the annual report requirement.
