1. Inspect monthly, or after every runoff -producing rainfall event, whichever comes first
A. Remove debris from the trash rack.
B. Check and clear the orifice of any obstructions. If a pump is used as the drawdown mechanism, check for
pump operation.
C. Check the pond side slopes; remove trash, repair eroded areas before the next rainfall event.
D. If the pond is operated with a vegetated filter, check the filter for sediment accumulation, erosion and
proper operation of the flow spreader mechanism. Repair as necessary.
11. Quarterly
A. Inspect the collection system (i.e., catch basin, piping, grassed swales) for proper functioning. Clear
accumulated trash from basin grates and basin bottoms, and check piping for obstructions.
B. Check pond inlet pipes for undercutting, replace riprap, and repair broken pipes.
C. Reseed grassed swales, including the vegetated filter if applicable, twice a year as necessary. Repair
eroded areas immediately.
III. Every 6 months
A. Remove accumulated sediment from the bottom of the outlet structure.
B. Check the pond depth at various points in the pond. If depth is reduced to 75% of original design depth,
6_5 feet, sediment will be removed to at least original design depth.

IV. General
A. Mow the side slopes, not including normally submerged vegetated shelf, according to the season.
Maximum grass height will be 6"
B. Cattails, and other indigenous wetland plants, are encouraged along the pond perimeter; however, they must

C. The orifice is designed to draw down the pond in 2-5 days. If drawdown is not accomplished in that time,
the system may be clogged. The source of the clogging must be found and eliminated.
D. All components of the detention pond system must be kept in good working order.
Special Requirements.
I, Walter Pancoe , hereby acknowledge that I am the financially
responsible party for maintenance of this detention pond. I will perform the maintenance as outlined above, as part of the

Subject: REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Stormwater Project No. SW8 971225
1900 Dawson Street
New Hanover County
Dear Mr. Tunstall:
The Wilmington Regional Office received previously requested information for the Stormwater
Management Permit Application for 1900 Dawson Street on February 26, 1998. A preliminary review of
that information has determined that the application is not complete. The following information is needed
to continue the stormwater review:
The calculations indicate two permanent pool surface areas, one at 5,570 (bottom of page 1)
and one at 6,840 (top of page 2). You have used 6,840 to calculate the volume and orifice.
Should you have used 5,570? Which is correct? Please revise.
Please note that this request for additional information is in response to a preliminary review. The
requested information should be received by this Office prior to May 14, 1998, or the application will be
returned as incomplete. The return of a project will necessitate resubmittal of all required items, including
the application fee.
If you have any questions concerning this matter please feel free to call me at (910) 395-3900.
Sincerely,
Ms. Linda Lewis

Dear Ms. Lewis:
Please find the following responses to your comments of February 20, 1998.
See note #34 on Sheet C4.
2. Vicinity map revised.
3. Dawson Street and Wrightsville Avenue have curb and gutter directing the storm
drainage into storm sewer system which ultimately drains to the culvert under
Wrightsville Avenue. Right of way area of these streets drain to road. The entire
area of the site is included into the pond (see plan).
4. See note #33 Sheet C4.
5. Approximate building dimensions provided.
6. Normal pool dimensioned.
7. State flood pool elevation 21.75 is delineated.
8. 0 & M reflects 6.5 foot depth.

Subject: ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT AND
REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Stormwater Project No. SW8 971225
1900 Dawson Street
New Hanover County
Dear Mr. Tunstall:
The Wilmington Regional Office received a Stormwater Management Permit Application for 1900
Dawson Street on December 22, 1997. A preliminary review of that information has determined that the
application is not complete. The following information is needed to continue the stormwater review:
✓1. Note on the plans that all roof drains must be directed into the collection system.
V2. The vicinity map shows Park Avenue, but the plans show Colwell Avenue. Please clarify.
✓3. Any offsite runoff from Dawson Street or Wrightsville Avenue? Spot elevations seem to
suggest that there is. Please delineate the drainage area to the pond, and make calculation
revisions as needed.
✓4. Delineate all wetlands on site, or note on the plans that none exist. The pond may not be
located within wetlands.
/5. Building dimensions or typical unit footprints.
AAdd dimensions for each side or arc of the figure created by the permanent pool.
f 7. Delineate and label the 21.9 State storage contour.
8. Please list 6.5' as the design depth in the O & M. After the design is noted, you may then
give the 4.9' benchmark to clean out the accumulated sediment.

II.
Quarterly
If depth is reduced to 75% of original design depth,
4.90 feet, sediment will be removed to at least original design depth.
