The Division received your request to rescind the subject permit. We do not object to this request.
NPDES permit NC0055701 is hereby rescinded, effective immediately. This message is to close the
permit file for the Division, and for your records.
If in the future you wish to discharge wastewater to the State's surface waters, you must first
apply for and receive a new NPDES permit.
PLEASE NOTE: as part of the Division's conversion to paperless communication, this email is the
only notification you will be sent regarding the permit rescission. No hard copy will be mailed.

The region has visited the treatment facilities and verified there's no discharge from these systems. This office has not
objections to the rescission of the NPDES permits (NC0088862 and NC0088889). While evaluating the subject requests,
Aqua also requested the permit rescission for the Nottingham WTP (NC0055701). Attached is the letter provided to this
office. The attached letter is unassigned, but it appears to be a copy that was sent to the CO. This office has also visited
and confirmed no discharge from the Nottingham facility and has no objection with its permit rescission.

I performed the inspections on Sunset Forest Well #1 WTP, Hopson Downs Well #4 WTP and Nottingham Forest WTP —
Permit NC005701 on October 21, 2022. Sunset Forest and Hopson Downs are 100% recycle systems. They do not
discharge to the ground or to any surface waters. Any sludge produced is stored in a tank and hauled by Granville Farms.
Nottingham Forest is a discharge to the ground only and not to surface waters and is classified as a deemed permit
system. I have included a draft letter by Amanda Berger requesting permit rescission for this permit dated August 22,
2022. There is no information in BIMS about this letter.
I recommend that all three permits be rescinded.

Please contact Aqua North Carolina Inc. and arrange a site visit to the subject WTPs to evaluate the permit rescission
requests and verify there's no discharge or potential to discharge from the subject treatment units. Any wastewater or
sludge in the plants will need to be disposed prior to permit rescission.
Update me on your findings and advise if conditions have been met for the permit rescissions.

Aqua North Carolina, Inc. respectfully requests rescission of NPDES Permit NC0055701 —
Nottingham Forest WTP. The subject facility has been upgraded to an AdEdge manganese
dioxide filtration system. This upgrade has removed the discharge from Neal Branch [(Stream
Segment 27-43-(10)] to the ground outside the well house. The discharge will be less than 5,000
gallons per week; therefore, the discharge will be classified as a deemed permitted system
under 15 A NCAC 02T.0113(18). Included with this letter are the Engineering Plans and
Specification Approval and Final Approval from NCDEQ- Public Water Supply Section.
