Thank you for helping us identify the issues with our WWTP and providing guidance on how best to deal with the deficiencies. With your help we are developing a plan to remedy the situation. We are increasing the frequency of grab samples to better identify the source of the high BOD entering our system. Our operator, Tim Church, is calculating our WWTP BOD capacity in order to amend our sewer ordinance with local BOD limits. Ms. Lowery - 2 - October 7, 2022 For the past two years, the Town of Lansing has applied for grant funding to renovate or replace our WWTP. For two years our applications have not been funded. However, our latest application, while not funded in the first round, will be resubmitted in October for the second round of funding. We met with representatives of N.C. Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Water and Infrastructure, and were advised on how best to improve our application. We are moving forward with that application and anticipate a better outcome in this cycle. We appreciate your help and look forward working with you to improve the efficiency of our WWTP and maintain the high quality water of Big Horse Creek, a tributary of the New River. Sincerely Mack Powers, Mayor sr
