Per the guidelines provided by Jeanette Powell and the guidelines posted on the NCDEQ webpage for the Annual
Self Assessment, the Town of Wake Forest (Town) is required to submitted a one -page letter summarizing the
current status of the audit and any corresponding notice that was issued (e.g. date of audit, notice that was
issued, submittal of any required documents, etc.). Below is our summary of our audit status:
The Town of Wake Forest was contacted by Thad Valentine on November 2, 2021 to initiate our MS4 Audit and
request associated audit documentation. The Town provided the requested documents via email on November
5th, 2021 with a cover letter explaining the attachments. On November 12, 2021, we were issued a MS4 Audit
Date Notification, and the Town also submitted our Permit Renewal Application to Jeanette Powell with a copy
of our draft SWMP the same day. The Town completed our MS4 audit on December 1, 2021 with Thad
Valentine and Lauren Garcia at Wake Forest's Town Hall. Correspondence between Lauren Garcia and Monica
Sarna continue after the in -person audit to clarify documentation that was provided during the in -person audit.
The Town was issued a Notice of Compliance Letter (NOC-2021-PC1230) from DEQ dated 2/8/2022 regarding
our NPDES MS4 Permit No. NCS000467. The Town provided a response to the NOC that addressed all 5 action
items outlined in the NOC including acknowledgement of the NOC, a self evaluation, our Stormwater
Management Plan, and our NPDES MS4 Permit Application on March 8, 2022. Prior to this submission, the Town
followed up with NCDEQ in February since our current permit was expiring and we were assured that the
existing permit would be automatically extended and remain in full force until the new permit is issued. The
Town received acknowledgement of our NOC response on March 15, 2022. The Town is still waiting for our new
permit.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
YM' `, 1.
